Studio WOW

3D ANIMATED FILM, 2008
Video installation composed of preprogrammed images of highways, road signs, elements of suburban landscapes with fractures and depressions occurring when approaching the city. This voyage from the countryside to the city becomes a panoramic view of Japanese landscapes.
Depending on the driving mode: dynamic for highways or eco for tough city traffic the all-new full hybrid CT 200h dashboard changes color from red to blue accordingly.
The creators believe that the local environment influences the unique design of Japanese cars.
For example, Lexus hybrid cars stand apart with distinctive design elements like blue logo, hybrid plates on rear doors, LED front lights and special wheels.
A couple, man and woman, float in a strange world, consisting of immaculate colorful cubes and symbolic elements. What are they doing? What awaits them at the end of this journey?
In their own style, WOW refers to the signs of times and to evidence of civilization in general, to the transitory elements of life and the eternal. In their works the length and time, the measured value is missing. Artistic experiments on differentiation and tangible connection with intangible occur in a state of timelessness. Everything flows, returns to the beginning, marking the cycles of this digital poetry. WOW studio deals with online graphic design, video and live graphics.
Founded in 1997 in Sendai, Japan, the company brings together nearly forty people and workshops at Sendai, Tokyo, London and more recently in Florence. The team carries out projects for both customers and for themselves - in order to express an independent opinion on the future and the eternal. Going beyond the simple process of shooting and directing, WOW knows no boundaries of technical possibilities and creativity in the search for identity and expression of the inexpressible.
The studio creates original works of art that are exhibited not only in Japan but also worldwide. Artists and programmers are continually exploring the immense possibilities of visual design. Any new work of the group indicates the talent of each of the participants.
Similar to the approach and vision of WOW, Lexus goes beyond traditional notion of what a modern car should be. Lexus hybrid cars represent brilliant result of Lexus creative and technical teams’ work, the realization of the most daring and innovative ideas based on a solid technical base.
‘In our creative work, art and design are inseparable and interact outside any categories. For WOW there is no distinction between visual and interactive design. We do more than graphic design: we create
an emotional platform with all our skill, experience and sense of beauty.’ Keywords: digital poetry, ineffable, video, graphics, interactive design
